Chemistry is a two-semester, college-prep, lab science. Students study a rigorous scope and sequence which focuses on General Chemistry topics such as solutions, gasses, acids/bases, redox, thermodynamics, chemical reaction rates, and chemical equilibrium. The labs are a combination of textbook labs and supplemental labs that engage the students and enable them to develop effective lab techniques, gather meaningful data, make astute observations, and complete thoughtful analyses. The focus of class time is on the introduction of concepts and completion of labs. Recommended weekly outside study time: three to five hours. New students need to contact the teacher to discuss 1st semester topics.
